If you've been wanting a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra but don't want to pay the $1,299 price tag, AT&T might have a deal that lets you get the phone for free!
AT&T is offering a trade-in deal similar to the one they had for last year's S24 line, but this time the trade-in values are higher. First, you need to sign up for a post-paid Unlimited Premium plan (the cheaper, capped data plans don't qualify). Then, you have to buy the phone using AT&T's 36-month installment plan. This divides the price of the phone by 36, giving you a monthly payment of around $36, but you probably won't actually pay that amount.
This is where the deal gets really good. At the time of this writing, AT&T is offering up to $1,300 off for trading in any Galaxy S, Note, or Z series phone sold in the past four years, even if it has a cracked screen! A damaged Galaxy S21 can still get you the full trade-in value. The discount comes in the form of bill credits, not resale value. After you mail in your old phone within 30 days, AT&T will automatically apply a $1,300 credit, which effectively makes your monthly payments free.
You can also get some extra bonuses on top of the trade-in deal. If you preorder before August 25th, you'll get a free storage upgrade to 512GB and a $200 Samsung e-certificate to use on the new Galaxy Ring and Book4 Edge products. AT&T will also waive the $35 activation fee for online orders.
If you switch your phone number from another carrier to AT&T, you can get a $200 prepaid Mastercard, which will arrive about 8 weeks after you activate your service. This card can cover the sales tax you paid on the phone. The only monthly cost you'll have is the $85 for the Unlimited Premium plan, but that's for the service, not the phone itself. After 36 months, you'll own the phone and no longer receive bill credits.
